Gas compressor
In big chemical plants industrial gases like air, oxygen and nitrogen are often provided by central services. The gases are normally available at different pressure levels. Using turbo compressors and reciprocating compressors the gases are pressurized to match the process requirements. This is where GEA pressure gas coolers are applied. After each compressor stage the coolers remove the heat generated by compression using a water circuit which ensures that the compressor provides the highest efficiency.
Gas preheater / Gas cooler
Frequently compressed gases have to be heated up or cooled for applications.
GEA pressure gas coolers and pre-heaters are also used in various configurations. Gas heating is normally via steam-fed heat exchangers and cooling the gas is done in a closed cooling water circuit.
