The higher the total weight the more energy is needed to set the weight in motion. The weight has besides the temperature a wide influence on the fuel consumption. The lower the temperature of the inlet air the better the fuel consumption which in turn reduces emission.
Therefore the charge air is the most important component beside fuel for a very effective consumption. Due to an efficient cooler performance the efficiency factor of the whole engine can be increased, whereby the same performance with less fuel is used.
